ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The leg-spinner Yasir Shah, who played a key role Pakistan’s historic 75-run victory against England in the first Test at Lord’s on Sunday, has grabbed the top spot in International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings for bowlers.

The 30-year-old Yasir Shah replaced England’s right-hand fast bowler James Anderson for No 1 position in Test bowlers.

Earlier, Yasir Shah was at fourth position in rankings before the first Test of the four-match series between Pakistan and England began at Lord’s on July 14. However, the leg-spinner bowled brilliantly throughout the four days and honored to have become the first Asian bowler who took 10 wickets at Lord’s. He was also eventually ranked by the ICC as current world’s top bowler in Test Cricket.Yasir Shah

The Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was ranked second while England’s James Anderson and Stuart Broad secured third and fourth positions respectively in ICC Test rankings for bowlers.

Yasir Shah was also declared man of the match after Pakistan registered their first win at Lord’s by 75 runs on Monday. He picked up 10 wickets in the match.

James Anderson didn’t play the first Test for England; however, his inclusion in the second Test is likely. The second Test match between the two sides will be played at Old Trafford from July 22-16.
