No unnecessary delay to be carried out in treason case: Special court

ISLAMABAD: The special court formed to try the former President Pervez Musharraf for high treason resumed hearing the case in Islamabad on Wednesday.

   

A three-member bench of the special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar was hearing the case.

During the hearing, the court said that the case will be heard on daily basis from the next hearing and no unnecessary delay will be carried out.

The court will deliver its judgment on the petition filed by the counsel of Musharraf, Farogh Naseem about the appointment of the prosecutor.

The prosecutor Akram Sheikh submitted his written reply on the petitions seeking widening the scope of the treason trial to the abettors and aides of Pervez Musharraf.

In his written reply, the prosecutor said that written evidences have only been found against Musharraf. He said that the matter of abettors could be taken up at the time of submission of evidences.

The counsel of Musharraf will submit his arguments on the next hearing.

Later the court adjourned the hearing of high treason case against the former president till April 24.
