LAHORE, Pakistan: The former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has been appointed as president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab Chapter while Nadeem Afzal Chan will be general secretary.

The decision was made and announced in a meeting of the PPP Provincial Coordination Committee presided over by the Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Lahore on Friday.

   

While addressing the media representatives after his appointment, Qamar Zaman Kaira thanked the party leadership for the responsibility and said the PPP was a reality and it would re-emerge in Punjab with full vigour.

Kaira said the PPP nominated him for the president after deep consultation with workers which was a tradition of the party. He confirmed that consultations for other party office-bearers in the Punjab province was underway.
