ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is making efforts for the development of tourist infrastructure and services within the country.

Vision of PTDC was to develop the tourism sector so it could significantly contribute to improving quality of life in Pakistan by promoting the country’s cultural and natural heritage, Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor said this while talking to APP.

   

PTDC was working for the projecting country as a tourist friendly destination, he added.

He said that the country’s attraction ranged from Indus Valley Civilization such as Mohenjo-daro, Harappa and Taxila, to the Himalayan hill stations, which attracted those interested in winter sports.

“Pakistan is home to several mountain peaks over 7000 m, which attracts adventurers and mountaineers from around the world, especially K2,”.

He said that the north part of country had had many old fortresses, ancient architecture while the Hunza and Chitral vallies were homes to small pre-Islamic Animist Kalash people community.

Historic Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is timeless and legendary, Punjab province has the site of Alexander’s battle historic city Lahore, Pakistan’s cultural capital, with many examples of Mughal architecture such as Badshahi Masjid, Shalimar Gardens, Tomb of Jahangir and the Lahore Fort.
