PM Nawaz asks democratic forces to resolve mutual differences through dialogue

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked the democratically elected forces to work for the unity and prosperity of Pakistan and resolve mutual differences through dialogue in a cordial manner.

   

The premier made these remarks in a meeting with a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) delegation which called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss the overall political situation in the country, particularly in the province of Sindh.

The MQM delegation was led by Dr Farooq Sattar and comprising Abdul Rashid Godil, Khalid Maqbool and Nasreen Jalil.

During the meeting, the prime minister said that difference of opinion is the beauty of democracy which should be aimed at country’s development and people’s betterment.

The prime minister said that our constitution provides ample space for debate to all democratic forces in the country. He said that difference of opinion is the strength of democracy and mutual differences among the parties must be sorted out through discussions and debates.

Sharif said that during the last few months Pakistan has witnessed an exemplary display of parliamentary democracy and rule of law in which all political parties expressed solidarity with the system for upholding the supremacy of democracy and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.

The prime minister called upon the democratically elected forces to work in unison for the development and progress of Sindh.

The premier further said that directions have been passed on to all the concerned to ensure timely completion of ongoing development projects in Karachi.
