ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan is successfully moving towards the destination of safety and security.

While addressing an exhibition “Safe and Secure Pakistan” in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister said that for the first time all stakeholders sat together under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and evolved a narrative that led to launching of national internal security policy.

The state minister said that as a result of successful implementation of the policy, there has been marked reduction in the incidents of terrorism. She recalled that there were 2,400 incidents of terrorism in the Country in 2013 which have now come down to just 160.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the exhibition is best example of public-private partnership in augmenting efforts to make Pakistan safe and secure.

The minister said that apart from efforts of the government and the law-enforcing agencies, there is need to bridge the technological gap so as to effectively combat the menace of terrorism and strengthen the national security.

Marriyum Aurangzeb also referred to reforms in curriculum and safe city project and said that the Ministry of Science and Technology is investing in research and development to make Pakistan secure.
