Red Zone’s security to be handed over to army: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan announced on Tuesday that the government has decided to hand over the security of Islamabad’s Red Zone area to the Pakistan army.

   

In his address to a press conference in Islamabad, the interior minister once again invited the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to negotiations table.

The interior minister said that the government had decided to hand over the security of Red Zone to the army, police, Rangers and the Frontier Constabulary.

“The army will assume the security of the Red Zone within next few hours,” Nisar said adding that a formal request was made in this regard.
