New Afghan president to undertake maiden visit to China next week

KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai will undertake a three-day official visit to China next week, his office said in a statement on Tuesday.

   

It will be first official foreign visit of Ashraf Ghani since he took oath of office as the new Afghan president on September 29.

“President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and a delegation of officials from the Afghan government will set off to the Chinese capital of Beijing next week upon an official invitation from Chinese leader Xi Jinping,” the statement said.

During his visit, the Afghan president will hold meetings with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders, the statement said.

The statement said that the Afghan president will sign agreements on bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
