Nawaz Sharif directs to stop all type of rallies in favor of govt: Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to stop all type of rallies in favor of the government to avoid any clash with workers of protesting parties, the federal minister for railway Khawaja Saad Rafique told the National Assembly on Wednesday.

The minister was briefing the house about the government’s ongoing dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

The railway minister also appealed leaders of the PTI and the PAT to withdraw their deadlines, avoid any violence and let the dialogue move forward for an amicable resolution. He said that violence is no solution to any problem and dialogue is the only way to overcome the current political crisis.

Rafique said that the government has held various rounds of talks besides telephonic conversation with both the parities to resolve the issues.

The minister said that the federal government has accepted almost all demands of the PTI which are in fact part of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) manifesto.

Similarly, he added, the government has expressed readiness to Dr Tahirul Qadri to resolve the issue of registering FIR of Model Town tragedy according to law of land or principal of Sharia.

In addition, he said that if any organized rigging is proven by the proposed Judicial Commission in the last general elections, the government including the prime minister will have no moral justification to continue in their offices.

The minister further said that no one can compel the government to accept his demands by force.
