Rawalpindi: Islamabad News: Situation should be resolved politically without wasting any time, says Pakistan Army.
Corps Commander Conference was held at General Headquarters tonight. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif presided over the conference.
While reaffirming support to democracy, the conference reviewed with serious concern, the existing political crisis and the violent turn it has taken, resulting in large scale injuries and loss of lives. Further use of force will only aggravate the problem.
It was once again reiterated that the situation should be resolved politically without wasting any time and without recourse to violent means.
Army remains committed to playing its part in ensuring security of the state and will never fall short of meeting national aspirations.
Situation should be resolved politically without wasting any time, says Pakistan Army

The statement of Pakistan Army has provided political respite to people of Pakistan as political leaders, media and civil society of Pakistan were worried and still believe that Martial Law can be imposed in Pakistan anytime as riots are not stopping outside Parliament House. Opposition and treasury benches have called for Joint Session of the parliament on Tuesday to address the situation.
Political turmoil in Pakistan has further intensified with strong likelihood of the intervention of Pakistan Army into whole scene as violence is increasing in political standoff and death of 2 protesters in clashes with police who took action against protesters who stormed Parliament building last night. Pakistan Army that has a long history to destabilize democracy and parliament in Pakistan is playing a positive role this time to shun off political crises because the government of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and the opposition in Parliament believe that Pakistan is becoming a victim of an international conspiracy to destroy institutions in Pakistan like certain powers did in Libya, Egypt and Syria. Political observers are comparing on-going political crises with Ukraine and said design of both crises is identical.
Thousands of protesters of Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) ransacked boundary wall of the Parliament House with a crane and one truck and entered into premises after their leaders Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri directed them to take over the control of Parliament House and the Prime Minister House. Around 450 persons were injured including 380 protesters and 70 policemen. Police and protesters clashes are still underway outside Parliament House in Red Zone since last night.
Pakistan Army has called the meeting of Corp Commanders to review situation in the country and parliament will also resume its session on Monday. Meanwhile Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has also called special meeting of his cabinet.

Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif asked Pakistan Army to play its role to defuse situation and facilitate talks with Imran Khan and Qadri and Chief of Pakistan army held meetings with both leaders who refused to accept any solution except the resignation of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif while the Parliament of Pakistan suggested Mian Nawaz Sharif “Not to Resign” and stood leader of opposition in national Assembly Khursheed Shah said that entire parliament is standing with democracy, role of parliament and constitution and will fight any conspiracy against Pakistan and the against democracy.
