Fight against terror requires cooperation of all countries: FO

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that terrorism is a menace that any country alone cannot fight and required cooperation of all countries.

   

“Terrorism is a menace that no country can fight alone. We cooperate with other countries and also need cooperation of all countries,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said at her weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The spokesperson said that menace of terrorism is a problem that affects everyone and particularly this region.

“Pakistan has suffered the most because of terrorism. We have done more than any other country to counter terrorism,” Aslam said.

“We expect similar approach from other countries.”

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reached Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for a three-day official visit and held extensive talks in Riyadh with the Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud covering bilateral relations and regional as well as international issues.

During the meeting, the two leaders emphasised importance of Pakistan-Saudi relations and vowed to strengthen them further in various fields.

“The Prime Minister met the King yesterday. They underscored the close and brotherly relations between two countries,” the foreign office spokesperson said.

The FO spokesperson said that the two leaders also identified a number of fields for enhanced bilateral cooperation including energy, trade, investment, security and counter-terrorism efforts.

In addition, she reiterated it again that we support Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process, and we would facilitate it to the every extent possible.
