ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chinese Vice Minister for Commerce Gao Yan said that China has desire to increase economic cooperation with South Asian countries including Pakistan.

Talking to Voice of America, Gao Yan said that China-South Asia trade cooperation’s prospects are very bright.

   

She said that China-South Asian common interests are increasing and China is desirous of broad cooperation among industrial and trade organizations of South Asian countries.

She said that many projects under ‘one belt one road’ are being undertaken.

She said the projects will help develop economies of concerned countries and a vigorous platform will be provided for cooperation in Asia.

Last year, trade volume of China-South Asia had crossed one trillion, 11 billion and 200 million US dollars which is 4.9 percent higher than 2014, she added.

She said that China is an important source of foreign direct investment for these South Asian countries.

She informed that China developed free trade zone with Pakistan and is also promoting free trade zones with other countries of South Asia.

She said that China is providing free stalls to South Asian countries’ industrial organizations in South Asia Expo. She stressed the need of introducing products of South Asia in Chinese markets.

It is worth mentioning that South Asia Expo will be held from June 12 to 17 in China.
