ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The cellular mobile subscribers base in the country after Biometrics Verification is showing upward trend and reached 125.899 million at end of December 2015.

The subscribers base was 124.24 million by November last year and during one month period five mobile phone operators added a combined user base of 1.65 million customers.

   

The latest data released by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Saturday revealed Mobilink is leading the charts with 36.21 million customers while Telenor is closing in gap with 34.93 million subscribers. However, after planned merger of Mobilink and Warid, Mobilink will be able to widen the lead with more than 46 million post-merger customers.

Zong has 24.13 million customers at the end of December 2015 while Ufone stood with 19.93 million customers till the time. Warid has a total of 10.69 million customers.

Moreover, mobile tele-density increased from 64.6 percent to 65.3 percent and Broadband subscribers increased from 24.79 million to 26.29 million during the period under review.

The data showed that the number of 3G/4G users reached 23.65 million by December 2015 as compared to 21.68 million by November 2015, showing a reasonable growth in modern mobile broadband services with each passing month.
