APS victims to be conferred 'Sitara-i-Shuja'at & 'Tamgha-i-Shuja'at'

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The victims of terror-hit army public school (APS) in Peshawar will be conferred ‘Sitara-i-Shuja’at and ‘Tamgha-i-Shuja’at’ in recognition of their bravery and courage during the militant attack in December last year.

In this regard, President Mamnoon Hussain gave an approval to confer ‘Sitara-i-Shuja’at and ‘Tamgha-i-Shuja’at’ on the teachers, students and staff of the Peshawar’s APS upon the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

On December 16 last year, the army-run school in Peshawar witnessed the worst terror attack the country had seen in recent years and that left 150 persons mostly school children dead.

The attack prompted a worldwide strong condemnation while the country’s political and military leadership decided to take stern actions in a bid to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.

Following the Peshawar army public school attack, the 20-point anti-terror national action plan was launched across the country under which the military courts and anti-terror forces were established among other initiatives.

The prime minister also lifted a six-year moratorium on death penalty for those convicted for terrorism.

President approves appointment of nine CII members for three years

The President also approved appointment of nine Members of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) for a period of three years.

In addition, the president also approved accorded approval to appointment of Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan as the Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court for a period of three years.
