ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage (IB&NH) Senator Pervaiz Rasheed on Friday claimed that not a single case of corruption reported in the tenure of current government.

In a meeting with members of executive committee of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) who called on him in Islamabad on Friday and discussed various issues pertinent to print media industry, the minister said that economic revival is the outcome of government’s prudent and business friendly policies.

The minister said that all sectors of the economy have witnessed turnaround due to reforms introduced by the government and the media industry has also benefited from this economic activity in the country. He said that the considerable growth in advertisements revenue is reflection of robust business activity going on in the Country.

Citing an example of telecom sector, he said that the present government auctioned the licenses for 3G and 4G spectrum which has revolutionized the mobile industry. Similarly other sectors of economy are also moving in right direction, he added.

Pervaiz Rasheed said that the development activity going on in the country is bringing more opportunities for all sectors of life.

The information minister said that transparency and good governance remained hallmark of the present democratic dispensation as not a single case of any malpractice has surfaced yet.

The minister said that the ministry will follow principles of transparency and openness in release of public sector advertisements.

Rasheed directed the concerned officials to evolve such a mechanism that could lead to the computerization of the whole record and make the details of advertisements released to media available, on the website.

Moreover, the minister assured the APNS delegation that the ministry of IB&NH would make every possible effort in resolving their genuine issues.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to freedom of expression, Pervaiz Rasheed said that the democratic government would continue to facilitate and support the growth of media industry.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary IB&NH, Principal Information Officer (PIO), Press Information Department (PIA) and other officials of the ministry.
